Rice Krispie Treats are one of those fond childhood memories kind of foods. I don’t know of a person who doesn’t like them, especially the homemade kind. The oozy gooey marshmallow and the crispy rice cereal make them deliciously simple.
If you want to change things up a bit and make the treats just a bit more decorative and tasty just add white chocolate. You will be amazed at how the sweetness of the white chocolate, or regular chocolate for that matter, makes these treats even better. Well, maybe not better because as I said before simple Rice Krispie Treats are perfect on their own, but definitely changes them up a bit. We could even say it dresses them up.
Here’s the recipe:
a regular batch of Rice Krispie Treats or if you don’t want to you can use the premade ones.
White chocolate (I used Merkens chocolate but you can use almond bark or white chocolate chips)
Sprinkles and decorations
I buy most of my sprinkles and decorations at my local cake decorating store, but you can often find them at the grocery store or Target.
Make Rice Crispie Treats and allow to set up for a couple of hours. If you are using premade ones you can skip this step and just unwrap them.
For this project I cut them into circles with my circle cookie cutter. If you would rather have them in squares do that. There are no rules with this recipe.
Melt chooclate in microwave or in a double boiler and spoon a dollop onto the top. I smooth it around on the top a bit and then dunk it in the sprinkles. Add an additional dot of chocolate to the back of your decoration and stick it to the treat.
Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy, as we say over here. They are the perfect treat for friends and family.
Enjoy!
